I wanted to understand why some believe the Earth is flat. I invited Flat Earth Dave to be on my podcast to explain.
I don't believe the Earth is flat. Rather than saying, “That's stupid. Everyone knows the Earth is round.” I wanted to explain how Dave might be wrong.
His argument for why the Earth must be flat is this:
Microwaves require line of sight. Therefore, for a system that uses microwaves to communicate over long distances to work, the Earth has to be flat. The Knickebein system Dave uses to make the claim, “It worked, therefore the earth must be flat,” operated at 30–33 MHz.
My question for Dave was, “What frequency ?”
Microwaves operate at 300 MHz to 300,000 MHz.
Dave thought the Knickebein was a microwave system.
It was not.
It operated on radio frequencies, ten to 10,000 times lower than what's considered a microwave frequency. The radio frequency it used was capable of traveling around the earth - a round earth.
