Why the World Feels Engineered to Keep You Afraid and Why Remembering Who You Are Is the Way Out

This article helps you think clearly in a noisy world, cut through misinformation, and discover solutions as applied to remembering who you are.

Why does the modern world feel like a machine designed to keep us divided, distracted, and afraid? We feel it in politics, media, advertising, religious institutions, in the way technology is built: Everything seems to be pulling your attention outward, fragmenting your focus, and nudging you into fear, guilt, shame, or not-enoughness. It’s reasonable to ask, Is this just human dysfunction… or does something actually benefit when we forget who we are?

In a recent conversation with energy practitioner and near-death experiencer (NDE) Steve Noack, we explored one possible lens for this: the ancient idea of Archons—not as a dogma, rather as a metaphor, for forces (seen and unseen) that feed on fear, confusion, and fragmentation.

Whether you interpret Archons literally as non-physical entities, symbolically as systems and patterns, or psychologically as parts of the ego, the model points toward the same problem: We lose ourselves. We forget who we are. And in that forgetting, something else takes over.  This article is about how to see that pattern clearly and how to reclaim your sovereignty by remembering who you are.

Archons as a Metaphor: Forces That Feed on Forgetting

Steve describes Archons as “multi-dimensional hackers”—beings or energies that:

  • Don’t have bodies of their own
  • Feed on low-vibrational emotional states (fear, shame, despair, chronic stress)
  • Exploit our lack of identity and unresolved trauma
  • Influence thoughts, impulses, and behaviors when we’re fragmented and ungrounded

If that sounds too far out, translate it into everyday language:

  • When you’re stuck in unresolved pain, you’re easier to manipulate.
  • When you don’t know who you are, you’re easier to sell to.
  • When you’re chronically afraid and distracted, you’re easier to control.

Archons, in that sense, are a useful metaphor for anything that hijacks your nervous system, distorts your perception, and pulls you away from your own center. That might be algorithm-driven outrage content, political fear campaigns, religious guilt and shame, endless doom-scrolling, or an identity built around labels, jobs, or victimhood.  If you lean spiritual, you might see it as actual non-physical beings plugging into those weak spots. The mechanics are the same.

How Fear and Fragmentation Become “Food”

So how does this influence actually work? Steve talks in energetic terms: we’re transmitters and receivers, constantly broadcasting emotional frequencies based on what we hold in our bodies, especially unprocessed trauma and emotional memory.

If you absorb fear-based content all day, relive old wounds but never resolve them, or let stress and anxiety simmer without awareness - you’re basically building a dense pocket of energy in your system. You’re like a radio tower tuned to one station: fear, shame, hopelessness, or anger. From Steve’s perspective, that density becomes an attractive signal, like ringing up the nearest prison and saying, “Hey, you’re allowed to come over to my house.’”

In more grounded terms, when you live in unresolved emotional loops, you’re less present; When you’re less present, you’re easier to push around; When you’re easily pushed around, someone benefits—financially, politically, spiritually, or energetically.

Whether you call it “the Archons,” “systems of control,” or “trauma patterns” doesn’t change the effect: Unhealed pain becomes a gateway. And the gateway doesn’t just open to bad habits or unhealthy relationships - it opens to out-of-character behavior.

We’ve all asked, “How could a human even do that?” From Steve’s view, sometimes the answer is: They’re not acting from their own core self anymore. Their system is hijacked by programming, by trauma, or by something that isn’t aligned with who they really are.

The Subtle Attack on Identity

At the core of all this is your identity. If you don’t know who you are, something will happily define you:

  • Your job title
  • Your diagnosis
  • Your political affiliation
  • Your trauma
  • Your follower count
  • Your role in a system (good worker, good believer, good consumer)

Steve’s phrase for this is powerful: “We are being modulated out of our identity.” You see this modulation everywhere:

  • Ads that tell you you’re not enough unless you buy something
  • Political messaging that says you’re a good person only if you think a certain way
  • Religious messaging that uses guilt and shame to keep you in line
  • Social media algorithms designed to keep you triggered and reactive

From an “Archon” perspective, guilt and shame aren’t just unpleasant—they’re tools. They keep you fragmented, out of your body. They keep you from accessing the quiet, grounded knowing of who you really are. Steve’s rule of thumb is simple and sharp:

“As soon as guilt or shame is used to sell me something or control me, I know what I’m dealing with.”

That’s a huge clue for spotting Archonic influence—whether you believe in literal entities or not.

Remembering Who You Are: The Core Solution

If the problem is forgetting, fragmentation, and hijacked identity, what’s the solution Steve’s answer is deceptively simple: “Remember who you are.” Not as an idea. Not as a slogan. Not as a meme. Rather, as an embodied knowing. It’s not just a memory - It’s a frequency.

We often think of “remembering” as recalling a childhood scene: a house, a smell, a moment. Steve is pointing to a deeper remembering: Remembering yourself as more than your name, more than your history, more than what you do for a living, more than your trauma or your mistakes, more than the labels the world has stamped on you

He describes it as reconnecting with the “original energy” you were before you came into the body—and then informing your nervous system of that truth. That’s not just a thought. It shows up as a felt sense of wholeness in the body. It’s as a “completed thought circuit” — a knowing that lands, like “I know how to tie my shoes.” It’s a stable internal reference point that doesn’t get knocked around by outside opinions or labels

When you know who you are at that level, you become much harder to manipulate, frighten, or shame. Your polarity shifts. Your field stabilizes. The “hooks” have a lot less to grab onto.

Embodying Identity, Not Just Thinking It

Here’s the critical piece: You can’t just intellectualize your identity. You can talk about being sovereign, divine, whole, or free all day. If your body still runs old trauma programs, the Archonic patterns still have entry points. Remembering who you are means doing two things at once:

  1. Releasing old emotional charges held in the body (stored trauma, shame, guilt, bitterness, fear).
  2. Feeding your system a new, true signal of who you are—over and over—until it lands.

This is reprogramming the subconscious before the world does it for you. Every day, life tries to install:

  • “You’re not enough.”
  • “You’re unsafe unless you obey.”
  • “You’re lovable only if you perform.”

If you’re not consciously giving your system a different identity signal, those programs take over by default. The question becomes: Am I the programmer of my nervous system or is the environment programming me?

Healthy Detachment: You Are Not Your Feelings

Another crucial tool Steve talks about is non-attachment. Not coldness. Not indifference. Just a clear distinction:

“I am the one feeling the feeling. I am not the feeling itself.”

That simple shift changes everything. When fear, anger, grief, or anxiety moves through you, if you think you are the emotion, it owns you; If you recognize you are the witness of the emotion, you retain sovereignty. This is not spiritual bypassing. You still feel it. You still learn from it. You do it from a place of:“Thank you for what you’re teaching me. You are not my identity.” That keeps emotions from becoming identity. And it keeps Archonic patterns from hijacking those emotional states and turning them into life sentences.

Nature, Technology, and the Battle for Your Attention

One thing that came up repeatedly in our conversation was nature. Steve described going into nature as a way to rediscover the pace and harmony our systems are actually designed for. In nature, your nervous system downshifts, your mind quiets, your sense of separation softens, and you remember you’re part of something larger.

Contrast that with virtual reality, video games, social media, and constant screen time. It’s not that technology is “bad.” The question is: Who’s in control? If you can’t put the device down, something owns your attention. If you use tech as escape rather than experience, you’re training your system to leave your body. When escape becomes pattern, that pattern becomes an open port—for marketers, for political operators, and, if you like that model, for Archonic influence.

Steve’s guideline is simple: “Know your threshold when you can no longer say no to something. That’s the difference.” Anything you must do to feel okay becomes a kind of energetic leash.

Institutions, Archons, and Guilt-Based Control

Religion, politics, and large institutions - from an Archon perspective, these are prime real estate. One person in a high position can influence millions. If that person’s unresolved trauma or shadow gets hijacked, guilt and shame can be broadcast at scale. Systems of control can masquerade as moral or spiritual authority.

You don’t have to buy the literal idea of Archons inhabiting leaders to see the pattern: Leaders traumatize followers in the name of “truth,” “obedience,” or “safety.” People internalize guilt and shame as spiritual or patriotic duty; Those emotional charges keep people from ever fully trusting their own inner knowing.

From Steve’s point of view, guilt and shame are red flags. If a government, a religion, or a leader is using guilt and shame to control you - you’re not looking at God, truth, or love -  you’re looking at something else.

How Do We Solve This?

If the problem is that the world seems engineered—spiritually, psychologically, and structurally—to keep us divided, distracted, and afraid,  the solution is not to fix “out there” first. The solution starts internally:

1. Reclaim Your Identity

  • Spend time each morning reminding your nervous system: “I am a sovereign being. I am already whole.”
  • Define yourself above your job, labels, politics, or wounds.
  • Ask: “Who was I before I was taught what to be?”

2. Release Old Emotional Charges

  • Work with a therapist, healer, or modality you trust.
  • Aim to clear stored trauma, guilt, shame, and victim identity.
  • Forgive the wounded part of you first—not the abuser, not the system, rather the inner child who lived through it.

3. Practice Non-Attachment to Emotions

  • When strong feelings come, say: “I am the one feeling this. I am not the feeling itself.”
  • Let emotions move through without becoming your name tag.

4. Guard Your Attention Like It’s Sacred (Because It Is)

  • Be selective about what you consume—news, social media, entertainment.
  • Notice what leaves you drained, fearful, or ashamed.
  • Walk away from anything that repeatedly attacks your sovereignty.

5. Touch Nature Often

  • Go outside.
  • Walk, hike, sit by water, touch a tree, feel the sun.
  • Notice how your body responds.
  • Let nature remind you of the pace of real life versus the artificial urgency of systems that want to harvest your energy.

6. Question Everything — Including This

  • Don’t swallow any belief system without checking it against your own inner truth.
  • Ask better questions.
  • Look for where guilt, shame, and fear are being used as tools.
  • Notice who benefits if you stay small, scared, and fragmented.

The World Changes When You Remember

Whether you think in terms of Archons, trauma, systems of control, or human psychology, the pattern is the same: Fragmented, fearful humans are easier to control; Whole, grounded humans are harder to manipulate. The most subversive, world-changing thing you can do is not to obsess over the darkness— It’s to remember who you are
and to live from that knowing, repeatedly, until it’s as obvious as knowing how to tie your shoes.

Fear clouds judgment.
Clarity liberates.
Remembering who you are is the first step out of any illusion that profits from you forgetting.

More on the idea that an entity such as the Archons, in another dimension, feeds on energy produced by human negative emotions:

One listener suggested the Archons may be feed off all the energy produced by our emotions –  positive and negative. Negative energy has more energy, more power density. This is analogous to power produced by standard WiFi at 2.0 - 2.5 GHz vs newer WiFi  that broadcast at 4 - 5 GHz. Some worry higher frequency technology is more harmful to health. In fact, lower frequency WiFi emits more power and therefore has the greater potential to impact health.

Archons might prefer to keep us divided, angry, and such, as that state leads us to create more negative energy. They are also harvesting the energy produced by our positive emotions - there's just not as much power produced when we are in a happy state - not as much power produced by happy emotions vs angry and fearful emotions. Consider it takes less muscles to make a smile vs. a frown.

The significance of this is that some believe the Archons are attracted to the negative emotions because they themselves are in a low vibrational state. This may not be the case. To them energy is energy. More power is emitted from low frequency sources than high frequency ones. They just want to maximize the amount of power we produce. It's that simple.
